Sherman Oaks, CA (September 1, 2010) - He's undefeated, hungry, and a young professional athlete with talent and today Fresno native bantamweight prospect Michael Ruiz, Jr. signed with Goossen Tutor Promotions.

Ruiz (5-0, 2 KOs), who made his pro-debut on a Goossen Tutor fight card at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino earlier this year, has an impressive amateur background most recently having earned a Silver medal in the 2009 National Golden Gloves and a Bronze medal in the U.S. Mens Open National Championship.

"I have laid a solid foundation for my professional career by putting in my time as an amateur and have made the transition into a pro fighter.  Now that I made that move I felt it was necessary to take the next step by signing with a top promotional company.  I believe as dedicated as I am to my career and with Dan Goossen's "know how" they will lead me to title contention.  I know it's early in my professional career but anybody who is successful has a goal from the get-go and that is my goal."

Added Dan Goossen, "I've seen Michael fight and I like his style.  He's a promising young fighter willing to fight his way to the top with an aggressive, entertaining style."

Ruiz is scheduled to fight at Tachi Palace in Lemoore, a few short miles from his hometown of Fresno on Oct. 7.

October 2 Hitz Boxing Event Taking Shape!
Author: BOXEOMUNDIAL.COM
Date: 8/31/2010

The Hitz Boxing event scheduled for October 2 at the "Venue" in the Horseshoe Casino, in Hammond, Indiana, will feature several prominent Chicago-based fighters in addition to Irish middleweight prospect Andy Lee (22-1, 16 KOs).

Scheduled to see action at the latest installment of "Fight Night at the Horseshoe" are comebacking middleweight "Macho" Miguel Hernandez (20-11, 10 KO's), blood-and-guts junior middleweight Henry "Western Warrior" Coyle (11-2, 10 KOs), talented welterweight Achour Esho (8-0, 5 KOs), middleweight knockout artist Josh Crouch (6-1, 6 KOs) and up-and-coming light welterweight Russell Fiore (4-0-1, 4 KOs).

Hernandez is best known from his appearance on season three of The Contender boxing reality series. Despite a recent disappointing string of fights, the 35-year-old pressure fighter didn't start boxing until age 27 and says he has made the necessary corrections and will return to top form beginning October 2.

Coyle is a former World Military Games Champion and is tremendously popular both in his adopted home of Chicago and back in his homeland of Ireland. His last fight, a TKO 2 over Marcus Luck, ended with his opponent suffering a disappointing arm injury. This time Coyle vows no matter who they put in front of him, they are going to sleep.

Esho and Fiore were both impressive in their appearances at the Horseshoe last May and will look to continue their..........

IRON BOY MELTDOWN

Date: 8/31/2010

As the years came and went it became an almost accepted conclusion that undefeated W.B.O. Junior Flyweight Champion, Ivan "Iron Boy" Calderon's reign would last forever no matter who he fought because of his speed, strength, and ring experience, similar to the great Willie Pep, eventhough all of his opponents were taller than him, had a longer reach, and a harder punch.

But sadly, Iron Boy Calderon, 34-0-1, 6 k.o.'s "ran" into a determined Mexican warrior, Giovanni Segura, 24-1, 20 k.o.'s, and also W.B.A. Junior Flyweight Champ, who fought in a coming at you road rage mode leaving no doubt that he was going to unify both Junior Flyweight titles. Wearing his Aztec Warrior outfit Segura left no stone unturned in attacking Calderon from the very first bell, as he had predicted during his training sessions and press conferences.

Iron Boy seemed overwhelmed or maybe even intimidated anticipating what was to come by Segura's non stop punishing head and body aggression moving forward constantly throwing punches from ..........

Date: 8/31/2010

COLOGNE, GERMANY (August 31, 2010) Middleweight contender Giovanni Lorenzo captured the interest of the sports media, fans and champion Felix Sturm on Monday afternoon in Cologne, Germany, by appearing at the final press conference wearing the jersey of local underdog soccer team, Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Lorenzo and Sturm will battle this Saturday night, September 4th at the Lanxess-Arena in Cologne for Sturm’s WBA Middleweight Title.

On Sunday afternoon, Lorenzo had watched as Gladbach defeated arch rival Bayer Leverkusen by a score of 6-3 in a major upset on Leverkusen’s home field.

Said Lorenzo, “I am all fired up and inspired by the Gladbach soccer team, they are an amazing example of an underdog who never stopped believing in themselves. That’s the same spirit that I feel inside of me. For now, I accept that this is the Felix Sturm show, and it is without question a tremendous show, we got Michael Buffer, Linkin Park, I even heard that Sturm is getting dropped into the ring by some circus contraption, that is all going to be a treat for the fans, but once the bell rings this is going to be the Giovanni "GladBach" Lorenzo show.

Speaking about Sturm at the press conference, Lorenzo stated, “I know I got this, Sturm couldn't even look me in the eye at the press conference, just look at the press photos and you can see he was looking down. He i..........

First fight for Singh since March 2009. Lanky Solomon, 27, continues to look an outstanding prospect as he showed some brilliant touches before halting trial horse Negron. Wins vacant WBA International and WBC Latino titles. Solomon one to watch. Cuban southpaw Ortiz, 31, a former amateur star, has too much class for Releford and wins on scores of 79-72 twice and 80-72.

STURM VS LORENZO HEATING UP
Author: BOXEOMUNDIAL.COM
Date: 8/30/2010

WBA Super Champion Felix Sturm and Giovanni Lorenzo were face to face for the first time at today’s press conference for their middleweight title fight this Saturday (Sept. 4) in Cologne, Germany.
"There’s no doubt about me winning the fight and becoming champion of the world", said Lorenzo who showed up in a jersey of local soccer team Borussia Mönchengladbach; Gladbach had won a clash with local rivals Bayer Leverkusen with 6-3 on Sunday afternoon. "The team of Gladbach inspired me. They were the underdogs, they played in front of Leverkusen’s home crowd and they scored a very convincing and impressing win. That’s exactly what I will do next Saturday. Gladbach scored 6 goals – I will score 6 knockdowns. When I heard that Sturm is from Leverkusen like yesterday’s losers things were very clear to me: I will be the new champion."
Felix Sturm wasn’t too impressed with Lorenzo running his mouth: "Talk is cheap. I heard he said that he will stop me within five or six rounds. We will see who will be on the receiving end on Saturday. All I can say is that I am very well prepared and all fired up for this fight. It’s a new situation for me because this is the first show I am doing all by myself. Of course, I have a phantastic team; everybody on Team Sturm has been doing a great job organizing this huge event. I promise all fans that this Saturday will set new standards for boxing and enterta..........

WITHERSPOON COMES FROM BEHIND TO STOP CASTILLO IN SEVEN

ENNIS; ESTRADA; HARVELL; SELDON AND SOTO SCORE VICTORIES ON SPARTAN FIGHT PROMOTIONS FIRST SHOW AT THE TAJ MAHAL IN ATLANTIC CITY

Top American Heavyweight Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon came off his longest lay off and struggled through the first six rounds of his scheduled ten round bout with Livin Castillo only to come out for round seven and score a thrilling knockout that headlined a great night  a great night of boxing that was promoted by Mike Brestle’s Spartan Fight Promotions at the Trump Taj Mahal Grand Ballroom.
After a pretty even first round, Castillo began to land numerous long left hands to bot the body and head and it looked like Witherspoon was a bit befuddled.
Witherspoon came out in round seven and went for broke and succeeded as he landed a barrage of punches that sent Castillo to the Canvas.  Castillo rose to his feet only to be battered all over the ring by an unrelenting flurry by Witherspoon and finally referee Earl Brown stopped the fight at 2:21 of round seven.
It was later found out that Castillo was leading 58-56; 58-56 and 59-55 on all three judges score cards
“It felt good to be back”, said Witherspoon, who was making his first ring appearance after an almost nine month layoff since a stoppage loss to world ranked Tony Thompson at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
“My plan was to box and get the ring rust off and then I took him out when my coach (trainer Wade..........
